You are invited to submit an artistic offering along the theme of “Kansas Life”. Please only submit current works, made in the last two years. The artwork created will be juried and chosen for a multi-media, multi-venue event called the Rethink Topeka Exhibition and Art Walk. The 3rd Annual Rethink Topeka event will be an artwalk through the city’s downtown on Saturday April 14th, 2012, 12 – 7:30 with local businesses serving as venues for the display and performance of the art created.
Submission Deadline: February 15th, 2012
Notification of selected works: March 16th, 2012
Artwork due in Topeka: (location and times to be determined) April 5th – 10th, 2011. All 2D and 3D artwork needs to be ready to display upon delivery. Pieces without hanging devices will not be included in the show. For performers, a scheduled performance time and location will be decided and sent out the first week of April so that musicians, dancers, and writers can plan accordingly. Film makers will also be provided with time and location of the showing so that plans can also be made accordingly.
Pick up of artwork: Work will be on display until June 1st at the latest. Show may move from original location to an alternate location. Works will be included in May’s First Friday Art Walk. Pick up information will be provided closer to event. Work not picked up by June 15th becomes property of ReThink Topeka.
Entry Fee- $5.oo to be payed via paypal to rethinktopeka@gmail.com This fee helps promote the event, print chap books, and provides prize money in each category.
1-3 pieces can be submitted per person (fee covers up to three pieces).
Sales: 10% commission will be kept from sales (to cover cost of checks, mailing the checks, and to help fund next years event).

Visual Art : (2D, 3D)
Artists can submit GOOD images of work electronically (no larger than 25 MB total) through Rethink Topeka’s email at rethinktopeka@gmail.com or send digital jpeg files no more than 25 MB 300 dpi on CD.
Files must be saved as: Artist Last Name.First Initial.Title of Art… for example marable.j.midwesternflight
Only digital images of work on CD or attachments via email will be accepted. Minimum acceptable file requirements: 8 x 10 “ by 150 dpi JPG. No original pieces should be sent. Send digital files on CD to: 136 SW Kendall Ave., Topeka, KS 66606
Film/Video:
Artists can submit a 2-3 minute segment of the film/video on DVD to: 136 SW Kendall Ave., Topeka, KS 66606 Links to youtube are also accepted.
Performance : (Music, Dance, Performance Art)
Artists can submit 1-3 songs for music performance on CD, 2-3 minutes of footage for performance art and dance on DVD to: 136 SW Kendall Ave., Topeka, KS 66606 If you are selected you will have a 30-60 minute slot to perform.
Poetry and Prose:
Writers can submit 1-3 poems or works of fiction or non-fiction to rethinktopeka@gmail.com. Attachments should be in Microsoft Word. Maximum of 4 pages, double spaced per piece please. If your work is selected it will be included in a Chap Book that will be for sale at the event. You will also be invited to perform on the day of the event.
